The Double Dragon Order In 1882, or the 7th Year of Kuang Hsu, Emperor Kuang Hsu adopted the Chinese Order of the Double Dragon, its first Order with a full complement of classes, similar to those common in other western countries. The Chinese name of the Order is "Shuang Long Bao Xing", or literally Double Dragon Precious Star. The phrase "Bao Xing", or Precious Star, in Chinese usage of the day actually refers to a wearable decoration, presumably because most decorations of the day were in the shape of a star, and typically made of precious metals and studded with precious stones. Overtime, this order became commonly known as the Order of the Double Dragon. The Double Dragon Order is, by far, the most well-known and most important Qing order. This page outlines the historical background and the regulations for the Order, it then describes the various classes of the Order, in both the earlier version (commonly known as Type I) and the later version (Type II).
