Nationalist Republican Military Medals

Again, perhaps because of the Nationalist forces' involvement in long years of and large-scale internal and external struggles, they have also developed a large variety of military merit and commemorative medals.  In August 1929, the regulations for the Army, Navy and Air Force Merit Medal was promulgated. In 1930's, the Medal of Brilliant Light, the Medal of Victorious Garrison, the Xian Commemorative Medal, and the Medal of Brilliant Helmet were instituted.  In 1940's, the Medal of Loyalty and Integrity, the Victory Medal and the Victory Commemorative Medal were added. A number of medals were added after the move to Taiwan, including the Medal of Honor, and the Medal of the Spirit of Chu.  Over time, the Nationalist Republic also developed a number of branch-specific medals, and proficiency medals. Only a few most common ones are described here.
