Why
this site?
This site grew out
of the webmaster's own interest in and collection of Chinese orders,
decorations &
medals, and is intended to be a focal
point for information on Chinese civilian
& military awards from Qing Dynasty, Early Chinese Republic,
Nationalist Republic, People's Republic, & other China-related regimes.
Chinese awards is a difficult
subject to make progress in. Unlike award systems of other major
countries, there is no complete reference on it. The few
references that exist are typically hard-to-find, in Chinese, & cover
only awards from one regime. Few dealers specialize in
Chinese items. Often, a dealer may have one or two Chinese medals, &
they are quite often wrongly identified & unreasonably priced. More recently, many
copies or even fancy awards
have appeared on auction sites or in catalogs.
Through this site,
I hope to
network with people from around the world who are interested in the
subject and share information that might be useful to collectors and
students alike.
